SHARK: THE BEGINNING

Today we will read the story of a student who was imprisoned after beating up the bully at their school. This film is the Korean Action thriller film released in 2021 titled SHARK: THE BEGINNING directed by Johnny Chae with a duration of 1 hour and 48 minutes starring Wi Ha-Joon (Jeong Do Hyeon), Won-Chang Jung (Bae Seok Chan) and Kim Min-Seok (Cha Woo-Sol). The genre of the movie is an Action and Drama.

The story begins with Jeong Do-Hyeon the current MMA Champion but when he returns home he finds his brother and mother killed. The killer of the family also tried to kill him but they failed and Do-Hyeon killed the thieves because of this he was imprisoned for murder.

On the other hand, Cha Woo-Sol is a diligent student who is really focused on studying to get into college. That same day they have a new classmate named Seok-Chan who is a good boxer. Woo-Sol was surprised to see the new student because this was the one who always bullied him before causing him to change schools.

When Seok-Chan saw Woo-Sol he approached him to congratulate him and repeated what he was doing before. Their classmate tried to stop Seok-Chan but she was also hurt by it. Woo-Sol begged him to stop making trouble but he just got angry and heated him up until he fell to the floor.

Woo-Sol found a ballpoint pen on the floor and he intended to use it but when Seok-Chan saw him holding it he challenged him to continue because he knew Woo-Sol couldn’t do it.

Woo-Sol couldn’t stop himself where he continued to challenge him which blinded Seok-Chan’s right eye but because of what happened Woo-Sol was convicted to three (3) years in prison despite being the victim of bullying.

The day he was taken to jail. He is accompanied by Do-Hyeon who is also transferred to the prison where he will be taken. When he got there, Woo-Sol met his fellow convicted Hyun-Min and he became his friend in prison because the two had something in common.

They went to the cell of the “maintenance group” whose leader was Sang-Yub who was in and out of the
dungeon due to the actions of the enemy group. The temporary leader warned them that if they can’t fight they shouldn’t draw attention to the “carpentry group” led by leader Woon-Joon and the leader of the “bakery” Sung-Yong.

He also said that even if they help each other, they won’t fight Do-Hyeon. Woo-Sol doesn’t know him so his friend reminded him that this was the one he sat next to on the bus. Suddenly the players got injured so they are short of people. Woo-Sol was chosen to participate in their game but he did not know how.

He accidentally hit Woon-Joon who was also badly hurt. He was angry with her and planned to take her somewhere to get revenge. They met Do-Hyeon on the way. Woo-Sol remembered that he was good at fighting so he chased after him and asked for help which he immediately responded to.

When Do-Hyeon was about to leave, Woon-Joon insulted him as a murderer. He quickly avoided it and with just one hit he knocked down the leader without any difficulty.

The next day someone visited Woo-Sol at the prison where he went to see Seok-Chan who was blind in one eye causing him to stop boxing and studying. Woo-Sol regrets what happened and apologizes to Seok-Chan when he doesn’t accept it and threatens to retaliate when he gets out of jail.

The gang leader continues to harass Woo-Sol after he has recovered from what he did. Woo-Sol saw Do-Hyeon through the window and went to thank him for saving him. That night Woo-Sol couldn’t sleep because he remembered Seok-Chan’s threat.

The next day he goes to Do-Hyeon to learn to fight but he didn’t want to agree because he said he might just use him to get revenge. Woo-Sol followed and said that he was running away from everything to avoid trouble. He doesn’t want to be weak and always oppressed by others.

Do-Hyeon stopped when he heard that and accepted that he would become his student if he could beat him running a hundred laps even though it was very impossible. Do-Hyeon wondered how this could be done but Woo-Sol didn’t give up and continued running even though it was very difficult so he forced him to stop because that’s when he saw that he was really persistent in learning.

The prison warden is close to Do-Hyeon because he has been helping the prison’s order ever since he arrived there. The warden declared that he would give him whatever he asked for as long as he could. Do-Hyeon asked to move Woo-Sol to his cell. Woo-Sol colleagues are surprised that he would suddenly be moved to a cell.

When he got there, Do-Hyeon immediately pushed him up but it was very hard. Do-Hyeon told him that he had to overcome his abilities little by little and immediately snatched it away from him but Woo-Sol seemed to be complaining so Do-Hyeon threatened him to go back to his old cell even though he was not ready to be forced Woo-Sol does what he is told to do but no matter how hard it is he doesn’t give up until he can do it too.

The next day, Woo-Sol started training Do-Hyeon’s help. Morning and night he continued to do what he was asked to do until he was able to do everything little by little. The days of training have passed and Woo-Sol is getting better and he can easily accomplish what he is asked to do.

Meanwhile outside the jail. A car was blocked by Seok-Chan on the way. The occupants are angry because it didn’t seem to see anything but when they got off Seok-Chan chased after the men who turned out to be the gang’s boss men. When he sees that he is letting his men down he is impressed by Seok-Chan’s courage and offers to work for him but he declines.

The boss challenged Seok-Chan that if he could avoid his slap he would only be able to leave. Seok-Chan was stubborn and intended to fight but he was hit so hard that he was surprised. However, the gang boss still hired him to work for him.

At the prison. Woo-Sol heard from his friend that Do-Hyeon was going to be tranferred to another prison. Woo-Sol was surprised when he found out because he didn’t say anything to him so he couldn’t focus much during their training. Do-Hyeon notices this and wonders what happened to him. Woo-Sol sadly when he found out that the prison was going to move him. Do-Hyeon is also surprised how he found out but tell Woo-Sol not to waste the opportunity that he is still there to help him.

Woo-Sol also saw his friend there watching him but Woon-Joon’s colleague came and took him with him. It turned out that they ordered it because they wanted their leader Woo-Sol which he did not do but Woo-Sol went there and caught him hurting his friend so he stopped them.

He also begged them to take Hyun-Min with him but they still belittled him. Woo-Sol knocked the man down with just one punch that stunned them and took his friend away with him. Woon-Joon was also shocked by the news so he ordered his colleague to bring Woo-Sol to him.

They went there where he was currently training. Do-Hyeon didn’t want to agree to let him go but Woo-Sol begged him to come back right away. The he went to Woo-Joon wh was already waiting for his arrival. Woo-Sol apologizes for what he did to his colleague but hits him on the head.

When Woon-Joon repeated what he did Woo-Sol quickly got rid of him and he also knocked him down with just one blow surprising everyone he did what they didn’t expect. Woon-Joon became even more angry after being embarrassed and attacked immediately but Woo-Sol was able to keep up with him. However, It did not last long because Woo-Sol was still inferior to the size of the opponent’s body so he was quickly knocked down but Woo-Sol was not one to give up he still got up to fight even though he was already weak.

He used his head until he tried to get back at Woon-Joon and knocked down the leader of the group. Woo-Sol was about to pour out his remaining strength but Do-Hyeon came and stopped him after knocking him down.

Meanwhile, Soek-Chan has become even worse since joining the gang as the boss’s right-hand man. Days passed and Woo-Sol continued to train Do-Hyeon the two fought until he was able to hit her but he did not continue. Do-Hyeon tells him that he is still too nice to the enemy.

Not long after Do-Hyeon was transferred tp another prison before he left he advised Woo-Sol not to stop and keep fighting. Woo-Sol regretted the teacher’s departure but continued to train alone.

The leader of the “maintenacne gang” Sang-Yub has also come out of the dungeon. His mortal enemy informed him that the novice who likes to fight will stay in his cell. Woo-Sol has also been moved to a cell because the “bakery’ group has a plan for him. Sung Yong the leader of the group challenged them to fight but Woo-Sol refused.

He was promised that winning the battle he would do everything he ordered. Woo-Sol says the condition is that he doesn’t bother other people and fight anymore. Sung-Yong agreed and give him five days for the fight but Woo-Sol insisted that the fight be done immediately causing him to fall with just one kick.

When the maintenance leader arrived he immediately looked for the rookie but he wasn’t in the cell yet. Not long after, Woo-Sol arrived and Sang Yub asked him if he intended to replace him. Woo-Sol refused which surprised him because his news is that he likes to fight.

Seok-Chan visited the prison again. This is also the day that Woo-Sol and Sung-Yong will be fighting because Seok-Chan heard that he was good at fighting so he visited there to find out if it is if it makes it stronger for him. He reminds Woo-Sol of who he really is. Outside veryone thought that Woo-Sol would never come.

Sang-Yub told them to stop fighting and change their lives just but they just laughed at him. He said that they got nothing from the fight but only punishment and wounds. He encouraged the other leaders to change but it seems that the two leaders are still not in agreement. Woo-Sol also arrives as everyone is waiting and he reminds Sung-yong of his promise to follow him if he defeats him.

Sung-Yong immediately rushes in to throw something in the fight where he moves quickly so Woo-Sol struggles however he tries to fight to face the enemy but Sung-Yong knocks him down immediately. Woo-Sol got-up to continue the fight but he was knocked down again which the leader thought he would not fight anymore but he did not give up and continued to get up to continue the fight where he was able to recover somehow.

As the two continued to fight there Woo-Sol got the chance to hold it and was able to win in the end much to everyone’s surprise but suddenly the guards came and arrested them because that’s when Woo-Sol entered the dungeon but even there he continued to train.

Not long after, He got out of the dungeon. Sung-Yub spoke again to the fellow leaders to change ad stop fighting but they still refused to agree. Woo-Sol also begged them because the two leaders of the group also agreed. They are now helping each other especially in tasks and are getting along well.

Some time passed before Woo-Sol was freed before he left, He begged the guard to go back inside to see on last time the place where Do-Hyeon trained him to get stronger. Then it finally came out and breathed the breeze of freedom.

It turned out that Seok-Chan was waiting for him for his plan to retaliate. Woo-Sol asked why he was so angry with him. Seok-chan just laughs at him and challenges him to a fight to get to know each other. Woo-Sol didn’t deny it who now had the courage to fight him.

There the two fought where Woo-Sol was unable to hit because Seok-Chan was really skilled in boxing but Woo-Sol continued to fight but he knocked him down and continue to hit him. Woo-Sol was able to retaliate but Seok-Chan used his clothes to get away causing him to be severely punished. Woo-Sol remembers Do-Hyeon order to him to continue so he hets up again with the will to fight.

He also remembered the type of punch that Do-Hyeon taught him before and this is what he used on Seok-Chan to knock him down. Seok-Chan hit him even more angry that he didn’t expect he could fell the pain so he couldn’t hit him Woo-Sol knocked him down and the two exchanged until Seok-Chan felt afraid of Woo-Sol who didn’t expected because that’s when Woo-Sol stopped and left after he defeated the one who bullied him for a long time.

In the end, Woo-Sol visits Do-Hyeon in jail and the two are happily reunited. This is where our story ends. I hope you like it.
