This movie is about a man who left behind in an unfortunate accident while another man on Earth struggles to bring him back safely. He was hailed as a hero after surviving the incident. The movie has a length of 2 hours and 9 minutes. The genre of the movie being an action, adventure and drama. It is directed by Yong-hwa Kim.

In 2024 the Korean Aerospace Research Institute or called KASA sent a crewed nation to the Moon to be part of the countries that successfully landed there. Unfornately during that mission all the astronauts died due to a technical glitch that caused the spacecraft to explode when it tried to land leaving the people of South Korea shocked and disappointed.

Five years later in 2029 South Korea will try again to send (3) three astronauts to the Moon. Hoping to restore their reputation. The (3) three astronauts are Commander Lee, Cho and Hwang. They undergo intense training to prepare for the journey not wanting to repeat what happened before.

Before they took off the astronauts shared a few words with the public. Lee said he will decide on a name for her unborn baby girl when he is on a mission looking down on Earth. Cho is going for his wife and son. Hwang will fulfill his dead father’s dream. He is the son of one of the astronauts in the previous mission.

The next day , The ship was successfully launched however, they were soon hit by the Solar WIng which caused severe damaged knocking out the electronic control unit and the navigation system. The astronauts lost contact with the control room and the minister of science and technology had to appear on national television to calm all the worried habitants while he press only reminded of the theories of disaster.

Meanwhile Lee and Cha examine the spacecraft from outside as they believe they can fix it. Hwang who has limited knowledge of technology becomes very paranoid but the (2) two companions tell him to stay calm as they assure him that they have everything under control. The astronauts noticed something solidified in the fuel tank before they could even process this information. There was a huge explosion that killed Cho instantly but Commander ee grabbed his hatchet so he wasn’t blown away by the explosion.

The Space Research Center was able to communicate with the ship back within a few minutes and it soon disappeared again but they also found that they could not see Cho’s vitals. Hwang desperately tries to get out to help but Lee points out that opening the hatch will only kill him.

Lee realizes that he can’t get out of there alive and in his last moments he asks Hwang to reboot the system to full power so he can start communications and promise that he will return safely. Hwang screamed as Commander Lee opened his hatch ahd disappeared into space.

A few moments later communications are rebooted and a devastated Hwang appears on screen to deliver the bad news. The KASA director told him to wait while they looked for a solution The minister was frantic not wanting to lose another mission. The scientist discuss their options and accept that they have no choice but to bring back the director of the last mission of his equipment and protocols.

The previous director is Kim who is currently with intern Hanbyeol on a mountain hunting because he has been away from KASA since he failed the last mission. At the moment he works in an observatory. The animals they were chasing ran away when suddenly the KASA helicopter appeared above them. They took the conversation to the observatory where Kim immediately refused to return.

However, He changes his mind when he found out that Hwang is the son of one of the astronauts from the last mission. In the control room the scientists are worried because the temperature in the ship dropping. When the minister starts to panic again Kim arrives and instructs Hwang how to make only one Thrusters be used to be used to move the ship into Lunar Orbit. The plan succeeds and as the temperature in the spacecraft increases it also begins to rotate in a safely orbit.

Kim told Hwang to relax while they looked for a solution to bring him back and a confused Hwang asked the control room who he was talking to. When Hwang heard his name he immediately flashed back to his father’s funeral and Kim’s presence there. This caused him to reach out to his family photos of other astronauts whow knew how they must be feeling right now.

Meanwhile, Kim called his ex-wife Moonyoung who works at NASA. Unfortunately she informs him that NASA refuses to help seeing the situation as a suicide mission. After hanging up Kim is found by Hyanbeol who informs him that everyone is panicking because Hwang is separating Lander without permission.

Kim rushes to talk to Hwang to say it’s a bad idea but Hwang refuses to listen. He doesn’t want to put his life in Kim’s hands because he failed to save his father and he has made his decision. He will land on the Moon no matter what happens for the astronauts who lost their lives, for his father and for South Korea.

While South Korean citizens and the press are going crazy over the news, Hyanbeoul tells Kim about the possibility of a meteor shower and Kim asks him to keep an eye on it while he makes a plan for repairs. Meanwhile the scientist do their best to guide Hwang to rely on autopilot to do so.

Kim couldn’t stop all the work he did during the previous mission and the day he met a much younger Hwang. Terrified that this landing will fail like the last time.

Everyone was nervous as the Lander began to accelerate but luckily it landed successfully. The people South Korea celebrated and when Hwang finally stepped on the surface of the Moon he took the uniforms of his fellow astronauts along with a picture of the crewmen to put them on the surface. He also put up the South Korean flag.

Then he boarded the rover to carry out the mission of collecting samples while the drone monitored the surroundings. Kim discusses options with a team of scientist to fix the system as the South Korean president appears to be giving a speech. Desperately aksing to help them bring Hwang back. Moonyoung tries to convince the insiders at NASA but they refuse due to the impossible meteor shower and judge Moonyoung for her vague feelings for her ex-husband.

Just as Hanbyeol sees some disturbing results on his tablet and rushes to tell Kim that NASA is right the meteor shower is approaching the Moon. Back at Hwang he is proud to report that he has collected all the samples including the ice from under the surface of the Moon. He also thought that the results must have been wrong because he was looking at sky activity and nothing showed up on RADAR

However, Soon the place starts to shake and meteors start falling around. Hwang sending him flying. The scientist order him to quickly enter the lander and Hwang tries to escape in the rover but a particularly large meteorite hits and creates an explosion that stops the rover inside the collapsing ground.

Against the director’s wishes. Kim asks a scientist to reset the spacecraft’s module system using a new code he designs that effectively repairs the module and restores power to the ship. Meanwhile Hwang calls his drone which he uses to lift himself out of the crater. He quickly ran through the failing meteors and got inside the landers just in time.

The lander takes off successfully and the next step is to connect it to the command module they must rely on the autopilot again to do the docking and luckily it arrives well before Hwang can move to the main ship a meteor hits the spacecraft which destroys a large part of it and sends it into a rapid collapse.

Kim tells Hwang to switch to manual mode but the lander shakes a lot and he can’t reach the control suddenly Hwang accidentally inhales ammonia and starts felling dizzy so he reaches for his helmet but Hwang passes out too late. The lander crashed and the control room lost communication.

The computer also couldn’t find Hwang’s vitals and after (4) four hours of failed attempts to reconnect. Hwang was officialy declared dead. As the news outlet covers another failed mission. Kim goes home and because he can’t face another failure he tries to do the wrong thing but Hanbyeol stops him just in time.

At the moment, Kim receives a message fro Moonyoung telling him that Hwang is still alive which she knows because the NASA station intercepted the radio messages that Hwang was trying to send to her station. Moonyoung gives Kim the code to access the fequency. So he and Hanbyeol hurried to get some old equipment from the observatory and listened to Hwang SOS message.

Hanbyeol immediately started recording it while Kim asked Hwang for his status. Turns out he doesn’t have much energy or oxygen left and the meteor shower is still going. Kim tells him to stay on the lander while he looks for a way to help and at that moment helicopter appears.

It turned out that Hanbyeol called an emergency serice saying that Kim was having a heart attack so they could pick him up immediately. The helicopter took Kim back to KASA headquarters while Hanbyeol posted Hwang’s SOS message on Youtube which immediately went viral. As Hwang does his best to tend to his wounds with whatever he has.

Hanbyeol kept him by talking him through communications. However, this only ends up making her angry because she is being scrutinized too much as if she knows him just because she read some online articles about him. Thanks to the audio going to viral, people around the world supported Hwang and pressured NASA to send help.

The higher ups at NASA want to know who gave the information and they immediately suspect Moonyoung but before they can check her phone they get a call from the white house. After a lot of work with KASA they were able to make contact with the lander again.

However the minister was not happy saying that there is no point in resurrecting Hwang in the public eye if he will be killed again later because they can’t bring him back. The meteor shower suddenly worsens and Kim wants to move Hwang to a safer place. He doesn’t know where.

At the moment came good news from the USA. The white house ordered NASA to help Hwang reach news outlets around the world. The American Lunar Station ang Moonyoung contact KASA to begin planning the details of the rescue mission. A the NASA office Moonyoung was fired and sent to the disciplinary committee.

He was only allowed to stay for this last mission to look good for the white house. After Moonyoung warns them that they can only do it once and they can’t make mistake. America’s station left for them to dock with the South Korean Ship.

Hwang tries to launch the lander again but after a lot of shaking it unforntunately fails to fly because it doesn’t have enough space and isn’t aligned correctly. Kim tries to tell Hwang to stop what he’s doing but it’s too late the lander hits the ground and begins rolling several minutes until it crashes back into a crater and the docking port is destroyed.

The American Station announced that they could not maintain the speed and standing for long. So Moonyoung had no choice but to cancel the rescue mission. A desperate Kim tries to give Hwang another idea to operate the lander but Hwang gives up and shuts down all systems including the oxygen supply.

Kim tries to tell Hwang not to be like his father but Hwang uses the moment to confess that he has seen the truth of his father’s will. It turns out that his father knew a month before the first mission to the Moon that the engines were defective and he still went on the mission because he wanted to make it work.

However Kim cuts him saying he doesn’t know the story. Kim asks Hwang to forgive his father because it’s not his fault. The day before the launch his father told to Kim about the broken engine and requested a (2) two months delay but since there was little chance of an accident a furious Kim went ahead with the launch as the mission was postponed so many times that he could never do it again. Crying her out Kum begged Hwang to come back.

Everyone starts to lose hope but suddenly the computer announces that the ship’s oxygen is back on. Hwang finally forgiven his father and is ready to leave. So he asked for directives. Meanwhile Moonyoung also heard the whole thing and decided to ignore the order to contact KASA again and make a new plan because she would still be fired.

Kim worried about the broken dock but Moonyoung is confident she can find a solution. Kim rushes back to the control room and together with the scientists they guide Hwang out and manually activate the thursters. Now that he was somewhere with more rooms. This allows him to successfully launch the command module.

Meanwhile Moonyoung locked herself in her office and contacted the astronauts on the America Station. She told them that there was no directive from the government but she appealed to then by reminding them that they are all from different countries but they are all astronauts so a call for hlep from a fellow astronauts should not be ignored because of nationality. Her call was interrupted when the superiors finally entered the room and took her away.

Back at Hwang he notices that the ship is reaching the brighter side of the Moon but that landing is impossible so he makes aplan. After taking all the memorabilia from the other astronauts he attached the drone to his body. Kim ordered him to open the hatch and jump out. After much hesitation and apprehension Hwang left the launcher. He floated for a few minutes and when he was near the surface activate the drome shaking him a little until they hit the ground.

Their communication was suddenly lost and everyone in the control room assumed the worst. At that momnet, America’s Station announced that they were approaching to carry out the rescue. Luckily the drone is still working and manages to record Hwang’s face when he wakes up. So he heard the message and managed to send the coordinates to the rescues.

Moments later, The images of Hwang being cared for by the American crew were reaching every news outlet and everyone around the world was celebrating. After this success the director of KASA wanted Kim to return to his job but Kim refused and left to return to his observatory.

When Hwang returned to South Korea the minister welcomed him eagerly pretending that he had always believed in him. He is considered a national hero but after the banal speech. Hwang focused on carrying the memory of his fellow astronauts. He visited the families and gave them all the thing he has saved from the ship.

Lee’s wife is told that the Commander has already chosen a name for the baby and Cho’s son is told that his father is now on the moon. A month later it was announced that the international space committee was allowing South Korea to join as the ninth country, It was also announced that Moonyoung became the first director of NASA which was an order sent from the white house.

In the final scene. At the observatory Kim plays a teacher and her class of children are excited to learn about space. One of the employees is dressed as an astronaut to show them how the suit works but he takes off his helmet and Kim was surprised to see that it is Hwang. Both men salute in honor of what they have been through together.
